Release or Renew a Windows 2000 IP
| If a Windows 2000 computer is not able to access the internet using Netscape or Internet Explorer or check email, the first thing to try is release and renew the IP address. | ||||||||||

| To do this you must first go to the "command prompt"
This is located in the "Start Menu" under "Accessories" |

| At the command prompt type "ipconfig /release"
Then press enter. A message will appear and you will be back at the C:\ prompt. |

| After you have released the IP it is time to tell the computer to renew the IP.
To do this you will type the following at the command prompt. "ipconfig /renew" Then press enter. The computer may pause for a little bit, but if you have a good connection and the Ethernet card is registered with CNS then an IP address pop up and you will be back at the C:\ prompt. Type "exit" and hit enter. You may now browse the web and check your email. |
