How to Find the Hardware Address

Before a Virginia Tech will allow a computer to access the internet the Hardware Address must be registered with the Network Liaison. To do this please follow the directions below. |

First you need to go to the "Command Prompt" |
|
|
|
At the C: prompt type: ipconfig /all and hit the Enter key. This will bring up a bunch of information about you internet setup. What we are looking for in this list is the "Physical Address" of the "Ethernet adapter." This is a set of 12 numbers and letters with every two separated by a dash. This is the number that you need to report to Jane (1-1741). You can see an example below. |
