Is the PC Running a Static IP or on DHCP?



How can you tell if the PC computer you are working on has a static IP or is on DHCP? This can be determined when you find the Hardware/Physical Address. To locate the Hardware address go to:
"Start" then click on "Run".
Type "CMD" in the text box and click "OK" .
At the prompt type "ipconfig ^/all " and press the "enter" key.

Below you can see an example of both:

static
This computer is running a Static IP. You can tell this by looking at the "DHCP Enabled" option. It says "No"
dhcp
This computer is running on DHCP. You can tell this in a number of ways:
  • DHCP Enabled is Yes
  • There is a DHCP Server Listed
  • There are Lease Obtained and Expires Dates
