Caution: There are critical security vulnerabilities in Eudora version 6.2.0 and earlier for Windows. In addition, Eudora versions 5.1 and earlier do not support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), a required component for connecting to the VT Mail server. For these reasons, please upgrade to the latest version from Eudora's Upgrade Your Eudora page (http://www.eudora.com/email/upgrade/index.html).
To configure Eudora to search the Virginia Tech LDAP directory:
- Open Eudora.
- From the Tools menu, select Directory Services.
- From the Registered Drivers list, select LDAP.
- Click the New Database button.
- In the Type the Name by Which You Would Like to Refer to This Server text box, type: Virginia Tech Directory
- In the Host Name text box, type: directory.vt.edu
- Select the Search Options tab.
- In the Search Base text box, type: ou=people,dc=vt,dc=edu
- Click OK.
- Restart Eudora.
- To search the online directory:
- From the Tools menu, select Directory Services.
- In the Configured Servers list, place a check in the Virginia Tech Directory check box.
- In the Query text box, type the person's name who you want to find.
- Click the Start button.
Notes:
- If your search does not return any results, try typing only the person's last name.
- If your search continues to return no results, the student's information may be supressed from public view.
