The Use of Survey.VT.edu, Step-By-Step
As you can see, in my account I have created a number of surveys with varying types of use. I have created first a standard type of needs assessment in survey form. That survey is still labeled "in development". Your work is saved in the survey database so that you can work on it from any machine. The second item, "Copy of test" is considered "opened" at this point. This means I have posted the survey for online access. We will discuss access parameters later. "Test" is the survey document I used to create this tutorial. "Copy of Test" allowed me to keep my initial two questions, but copy them over to the second version you saw with short answers. Survey.VT.edu will allow you to keep similar versions of the same survey so you can modify one of them without a problem. The third item is a list of computers around campus that can be entered into Survey.VT.edu for compiling later. Note that this item is "closed", meaning I am finished developing the item, but it has not yet been implemented on the Web, or it was implemented and then removed from Web access for maintenance or data collection. The fourth item is a problems/suggestions box for a computer lab. This is simply a quick way to place a desktop shortcut to submit a text item for email. The fifth item is intended for further computer logging, and the sixth is the original test survey. These items and others can all be maintained and implemented simultaneously in Survey.VT.edu. To create a new survey, however, you need to simply press the create button at the top. When you enter the site, you will only have this option before your surveys have been created. |
