After clicking the "Export Results" link in Survey.VT.edu, you will be given the following options:

These options will be important when you try to move the data from the text file created by Survey.VT.edu to Excel or SPSS. The safest choices for these applications are usually a semicolon or comma as delimiter. A delimiter is a set division between data items in the text file. You should be aware that commas in your text, such as the text of the questions, can cause the organization of your data to be thrown off. If you have many commas in your questions, use a semicolon as delimiter when exporting.

At the bottom, Survey.VT.edu asks which questions you would like to export. Below this item on the page is:

Note that all questions are checked for exportation. You could choose to exclude certain questions for data analysis. For example, since the "short answer" and "comment/essay" questions will not yield nominal data, I may wish to exclude them from my export.

Click done when you have finished setting up your export and save the file somewhere you will be able to access it.
